Why Do I Need a Professional Photographer to Take Action Photo of My Dog? Anybody Can Do That....

Really? Sure, if you are content with the average phone photo... but then you wouldn't be here! More discerning clients understand that action pet photography is part science and part art- it requires skills honed by years of practice and a considerable investment in specialized camera equipment.

I practice several hours a week, every week to maintain my skills for action photography. Owning the fastest camera available (Sony A1 which shoots up to 30 frames per second) and duplicate bodies for back-up provides for consistent reproducibility. High resolution cameras (up to 61MP) allow for large photographic prints and multiple telephoto lenses cover a range of situations and venues.

During a typical shoot with one dog, I take thousands of shots. With two dogs, I often exceed 3,000 shots because it is beyond challenging to get both animals in focus in the same frame at the same time when they are crashing through water or running free on trails through the woods. Sometimes more than one photo shoot is required to get the right shot.

The artistic part of the process comes from customized editing and printing to yield a distinctive, fine art image created in my own studio. Do you like slow motion blurs or prefer high speed shots freezing the action at multiple points so you can choose that magical, split-second shot when you can see the gleam in their eyes when they run with their favorite ball

If you want the "Kathy Murphy look" then you have to come to Kathy Murphy.
